3 great reads for entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs

Once upon a time entrepreneurs were thought to be born rather than made.  However, like any human craft there’s a strong element of skill. We now know a lot about the skills and habits of successful repeat entrepreneurs.  These are 3 of our current favourite skill-builders –  along with video intros – for finding, funding and building new business opportunities.

1. Find it – The Click Moment

The Click Moment. Seizing Opportunity in an Unpredictable World by Frans Johansson is a great reminder that success is often accidental and unexpected, the result of responding to passion and curiosity – repeatedly.   It provides some great explorations into what works (or doesn’t) and why.   More importantly, there are some great tips on how to generate and leverage more “clicks” in your business or career.

2. Fund it – 12 Magic Slides

The 12 Magic Slides. Insider Secrets for Raising Growth Capital by Paul M. Getty is a mine of valuable tips on smart pitching.  It will help you corral your passion and turn it into a strong core message about what’s really being invested in – YOU!.

3. Manage it – The Lean Startup

The Lean Startup. How Today’s Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses by Eric Ries.   This book explores startup success as a PROCESS – one that can be understood, taught and learned – as a process of management.
